GSP Conducts 130mph PIT on Fleeing KIA

Trooper's Report:

On May 14, 2022 I was notified over Troop C Communications that Smyrna PD
was requesting assistance with a vehicle pursuit coming southbound through
Atlanta. TFC Campbell and myself located the pursuit traveling southbound on I-
75/85 and I assumed primary position and TFC Campbell handled radio traffic.
We continued southbound at a high rate of speed and continued onto I-75 from I75/85. As we traveled south I attempted a PIT in the area of I-75 and Cleveland
Avenue but it was unsuccessful and the vehicle continued to flee southbound on I-
75. We continued southbound on I-75 in excess of 130 miles per hour with the
vehicle swerving across lanes. On I-75 in the area of Central Avenue I attempted
another PIT and again was unsuccessful and the vehicle continued to flee.
We crossed into Clayton County on I-75 and Cpl Youngblood joined the pursuit.
We continued past Tara Boulevard on I-75 and as we approached GA-54 I
attempted another PIT which rotated the vehicle clockwise and it left the roadway
striking a wall before traveling back across I-75 and coming to rest against the
median wall.
A felony stop was conducted and both occupants were removed from the vehicle
and taken into custody without further incident and turned over to Smyrna PD who
handled all charges.
