Описание к видео Exploring an Old Gold Mine on Frazier Mountain

In this video, I explore an amazing old gold mine on Frazier Mountain near Frazier Park, California. This was a lucky find, as many of the adits in the area are caved in.

This mine wasn’t very extensive, but it featured some beautiful timbering built out of raw tree trunks. These timbers were likely cut down in the canyon right outside the mine. There is a large collapse at the end of the timbered section, but one can bypass it by climbing through a hole in the timbering. Just beyond the collapse is what I believe to be the face of the mine. I know I said it may have continued further in the video, but I don’t think this was the case. The chamber past the collapse drops down further than the roof of the timbered section, and it ends with flat wall. There would be some indication if the adit kept going past this point. Also, the waste rock pile for the mine is small and is consistent with the size of the workings. Just outside the adit is a small wooden trestle that was used to bring ore carts across the gully.

Below the adit, I found the remnants of a miners cabin. There was nothing left except for a work table and the shot up remains of old appliances. Apparently most of the historical cabins in the area were burned down by the forest service in the 1970’s. Their excuse was to stop squatters, but I find this unjustified. Also nearby was a caved shaft.

I found this mine with the help of Google Earth and by following old trails. I do not know the name, nor history of this mine.
