MV Foundation Volunteers are armed with multiple talents. We were pleasantly surprised to see Mr. Ch.Srinu who not only stopped 29 child marriages in Cherlapalli, Haripirala and Chityala gram panchayats in Thorrur Mandal, Warangal district of Telangana. During the review at the end of the project, we discovered that he was an amazing singer with a golden voice. He got the girls to participate in songs and team building activities to create a support system within themselves. His idea was to empower them using their own abilities. All the girls you see in the group go to school located 8 kms away from their native village. As there is no public transport, the girls take a group auto for Rs.10 everyday. They manage to save for the auto fare by working as agricultural labour on weekends. That is the level of motivation imbibed by Mr. Ch. Srinu , who calls himself as a thread in the garland. He is too modest to pose for photographs. I managed to shoot this video while he was singing. The song is about the atrocities on girls forced into child marriages and how tradition and culture plays a detrimental role in aiding the social evil. You can see the girls giving chorus to his song and can clearly identify with the essence of the song. Mr. Srinu has got a special ability to pause and ask questions to ensure maximum participation from his students. Fondly referred as Srinu Sir, he is also a positive role model for the adolescent boys in the region.
