"As students, we were faced with a question: How to balance all the assignments, exams, deadlines with a healthy lifestyle? We believe that we found a solution that can help bring us closer to that goal.
The PROSPER project introduces a multi-purpose mobile application that was inspired by research conducted by RIT Croatia’s students as part of the Honors Program curriculum. By analyzing data, we obtained through a series of tests which required the use of eSense technology (electrodes and application), we created a rough scale on level and intensity of stress in RIT’s students. Having learned about stress-induced disorders and their impact on mental and physical health, productivity, performance, and our self-image, we wanted to aid our faculty officials in raising awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, all through a gamified experience!
PROSPER seeks to aid students in Planning their daily routines and tasks, Reacting in a timely manner (especially when it comes to decision making processes), Organize their materials, notes and work materials, Sense when they are close to pushing themselves over the limit or when a change in their habits and routines is due, Predicting possible conundrums, obstacles and stumbling blocks that may hinder their progress down the road, Evaluate their given situation and possibilities, and ultimately Resolve all and any issues in the best way possible.
By taking in the user’s input on their habits, nutrition, routines, physical activity, self-image, and self-esteem, PROSPER seeks to provide feedback which will serve for the purpose of prevention of any significant and substantial symptoms which may cause health issues or grow in intensity and, in time, lead to a psychological disorder. Additionally, we want to turn this app into a “for students, from students” experience by sharing collected and summarized information regarding learning styles, work organization, task management, positive reinforcement, types of conditioning, the “self” and what affects it, motivation, and other aspects of student life which we have gone through ourselves, while also sharing some of our own findings which might prove to be of use to our fellow students. Such as certain apps, technologies, note taking methods, work organization, and much more.
Combining data obtained from eSense, our scales will evaluate the stress levels and indicate when the user’s diagnostics oscillate from the desired zone by a considerable margin.
Through systematic analysis, we combine this data into marginal values that are then compared to the tracked physical readings, self-assessment results and user’s input. The results can suggest that a person is experiencing increased levels of stress, anxiety or uneasiness, and further symptoms can be prevented!"
