Hello, I’m happy to see you again if you are part of the channel, If you are new here, I’m John Ordoñez real estate professional for over 15 years in Costa Rica! Real Estate in Costa Rica, Atenas is famous for many things and like almost all Costa Rica, Real Estate is big here! Let’s start saying that Atenas in Costa Rica is one of those special towns on earth with perfect weather!


Atenas Costa Rica is located in Alajuela Costa Rica, which is the second largest province in the country, its altitude is about 700 meters over sea level and that is exact for a perfect weather ranging from 60 to 75 degrees.
Atenas Is located about 45 minutes away from San Jose and about 25 minutes to Escazu, I have a video about Escazu that I will list at the end if you want to know about that place Escazu Costa Rica.


Atenas Costa Rica is home of about 1500 ex-pats from USA,Canada and Europe, Atenas Costa Rica, is a small town where you can find all basic things such as shops, restaurants, gym and other basic commercial options, the area is full of fresh fruits and vegetables which are cheap at local farmer’s market.

Most roads in Alajuela Costa Rica are paved but a bigger SUV will be a big plus.


Atenas Costa Rica is a great place to live, there are about 8,000 inhabitants and crime in the area is minimal, from Atenas Costa Rica one can go to Escazu in about 25 minutes to access best amenities in the country or to the nice beach spots in Herradura beach, Hermosa Beach, Jaco beach and many more! I have some other videos about these nice areas and I will put them up on the screen!

And here are my final tips if you are considering Atenas Costa Rica as you next destination so you are more prepared!

1) It is a semi-rural area so you will have to drive some to get medical care or nice groceries.
2) Many roads and ways are unpaved so try to buy or rent an SUV so you can go anywhere to explore this beautiful area.
3) Downtown Atenas Costa Rica is beautiful small town so make sure you spend some time there.
4) Internet connection is offered in almost all Costa Rica but make sure you ask details about this in case you are buying or renting and never stay with regular internet, always ask to upgrade to the best speed available so you are covered!
5) Atenas Costa Rica offers great mountain and city views so try to find a property with great views you won’t regret it!
