Описание к видео Have you taken your M.E.D.S. today?

“Insanity doesn’t run in my family. It strolls through, taking time to get to know each of us personally.” -Anonymous

The COVID-19 pandemic, and its the subsequent #ShelterInPlace is thrust into our lives so suddenly. My wife is still allowed to commute to work (essential workforce), so I am home, working, #homeschooling, preparing meals, and generally stuck with 2 annoying, and very immature housemates (aka, 😇😇 my children).

💪 Workload aside, how do we keep ourselves from pulling out our hair? How do we maintain excellent physical and mental wellbeing?

As part of the #WorkingFromHome series, I’d like to share with you some tips, having worked with remote team members from all over the globe, here at 🎯 Propelo Media.

In this 5-min short video, we will learn take our collective M.E.D.S:
Meditate - it’s not what you imagined. Switching your brain to another mode is the key.
Exercise - “A sick person only wants one thing, a healthy person wants many things.”
Diet - the 90/10 rule on keeping a healthy weight
Sleep - the most important, yet the most elusive these days

TRANSCRIPT:
Are you taking your MEDS today? I want to share the kind of meds that everyone should take and this is the kind of meds that you do not need to go see a doctor for.

Hi, my name is Andre Chandra, founder and CEO of Propelo Media. We have been working with remote teams, all over the globe, for a few years already. So let me share with you some tips on how to fight cabin fever.

M - Meditate. Let me share with you an illustration. Back in the ancient times when everyone’s still in agrarian cultures, there’s a lot of shepherds. And sheep. Sometimes, because of seasonality, flies would be abundant near these sheep. These flies would often fly into the noses of the sheep. When that happens, the sheep would bang their heads onto a tree, into the ground to get rid of the discomfort. So ancient shepherds would always carry around a flask oil that they rub on the sheep’s foreheads, this is a natural fly repellant to keep the flies away. And I’m reminder that we’re just like that sheep. Yes, there’s a lot of bad news out there. Note that I’m not advocating being ignorant or unrealistic. Jim Collins said that we have to be realistic about the brutality of the facts, BUT somehow keep your mind above the fray. Fill your head and thoughts with positive things. Meditate… if you believe in prayer, pray.

E - Exercise. There’s an adage that says “A sick person only wants one thing, a healthy person wants many things.” Maintaining your physical well-being is very important. Here are my rules of thumb: exercise 30 minutes daily, no more, no less. Too much will cause you to become undisciplined and never get to it, but too little is not enough to break a sweat. I don’t care what you do, move. Forget about getting ripped, those people we see in photo shoots and movies prepare for months to get to that look. My goal is health, not

D - Diet. Some people are stress eaters, the others are the opposite. DO NOT forget to eat. 80-90% of your weight control is from what you put in your mouth, so be disciplined with what you eat. Personally, I cook more during this shut-in, it gives me a change of pace from the daily stress, it is quite therapeutic. You don’t have to do it, but watching what you eat is the more important thing.

S - Sleep. Honestly, this is the hardest for me. Good sleep is precious these days, not just because of work, family, and everything else. As everyone knows, we spend ⅓ of our lives sleeping, and there’s a good reason for that. Invest in a good bed that will last you 10-20 years, it is one of the best investments you can make. Be disciplined about sleeping times. And let me just circle back to the top, shutting down your brain by meditating really helped me center my mind for rest.
