5: Robbery at a Poker Tournament-NTV:
In 2010, a broadcast theft took place during a German poker event in Berlin. While the players are dealing with a hand, terror spreads around the area without warning. Members of the audience were seen yelling and departing the venue on live television. The tournament's participants also exited the table shortly after. It was then found that armed and masked guys robbed the establishment and stole a large amount of the jackpot. Fortunately, no one was critically hurt as a result of the incident. While the authorities worked to apprehend the perpetrators, the tournament continued.
4: MTV's Lip-Sync Fail Club #4: Milli Vanilli
Milli Vanilli hit the stage for a live MTV concert after winning the Grammy for Best New Artist. In the middle of performing their song "Girl You Know It's True" in 1989, the audio jammed, causing one of the lyrics to replay repeatedly. During this big gaffe, the award-winning team hurried off the stage. They did, however, return and finish the show. Although many individuals did not recognize the significance of what had occurred at the time, it would eventually become part of a devastating confession. It was formally discovered in 1990 that the singers' vocals were not featured on their songs. Anyone who was skeptical about that confession only had to glance at this live video to fail to believe it.
3: The Presidential Election of 2000
The presidential election of 2000 between Al Gore and George W. Bush was one of the closest in American history. It was also one of the most contentious because of a major announcement blunder. CNN, NBC, and ABC all declared that Gore had won the election in Florida. This major piece of news appeared to all but guarantee that the Democratic nominee would be elected president. They did, however, call it a little too soon. As further data came in, it was found that the votes were really leaning toward Bush. To say those watching were stunned and bewildered is an understatement.
2: Geraldo discovers nothing in Al Capone's vault
(Title: The Mystery of Al Capone's Vaults" (1986))
Because Al Capone was a well-known gangster, a two-hour live presentation dedicated to learning more about him was eagerly anticipated. About thirty million people watched the show, which Geraldo Rivera hosted in a hotel that once belonged to the mafia boss. They were especially curious to see what was in the gangster's secret vault. Rivera and his team discovered nothing after entering the building. As disappointing as it was, we can't deny that the gag was hilarious to watch. While we didn't find the juicy details we were looking for, we did find a treasure trove of pop culture spoofs about a live TV disaster we won't soon forget.
#1: Power Outage During Super Bowl XLVII
The Super Bowl is the one sporting event that spectators look forward to the most. Those watching the 2013 game were expecting to see the players become fired up on the field. However, the exact reverse occurred at least for approximately a half hour. A partial power outage in the Superdome delayed the game and suspended play for 34 minutes early in the second half. Following the restoration of power, the 49ers, who had been trailing the Ravens, made a stunning comeback. However, the Ravens came out on top in the end. Super Bowl XLVII was rightfully dubbed "The Blackout Bowl" in the aftermath of the occurrence. It's certainly one of the strangest Super Bowl scenarios in history.
