So excited to include PETE (Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble) in The World’s First AI-Generated Theatre Festival!

While I lived in Portland, for my money, PETE was consistently doing the coolest, weirdest, and most exciting theatre stuff.

PETE’s mission statement is “TO PROPOSE NEW WAYS OF BEING THROUGH CREATIVE INQUIRY AND PERFORMANCE” and they certainly fulfilled that MO here. They came in with a really powerful idea to sit with the grief of all we’ve experienced as a result of the pandemic — and despite the AI being trained on data all from before Covid-19 upended everything, they made a moving and human piece of theatre. Over Zoom! via some cold and unfeeling collection of algorithmic data! Insane!
