New York, NY — February 2025 — The Official Opening of New York City Fashion Week 2025 became a landmark celebration of global diplomacy, culture, and leadership as Ambassador Dr. Hugues Sanon presented the Global Distinguished Leadership Award to three distinguished honorees: His Highness Prince Shahib Al Said of Oman, His Highness Prince Mario-Max Prinz zu Schaumburg-Lippe, and Mrs. Esmeralda Harwood, CEO and Founder of Moda Week International. The ceremony took place at The Mezzanine – Wall Street Edition and brought together royal dignitaries, UN diplomats, international media, fashion executives, designers, artists, and more than 50 global models.

Ambassador Dr. Hugues Sanon—international diplomat, humanitarian visionary, and Special Envoy to the United Nations for the Council for Justice, Equality and Peace (COJEP International)—opened the night with a message centered on peace, unity, and global sustainability. His lifelong commitment to humanitarian service and his work across the United Nations, the African Union, and the European Parliament set the tone for an evening defined by unity and purpose. Supporting him throughout the ceremony was Global Peace Ambassador Nadine Charles, a registered nurse and entrepreneur whose leadership in global health and community service added a meaningful dimension to the presentations.
