My dear children and young people,

Happy New Year to you all.

We begin another year and yes, we are all getting a little older. That is okay because life is about growing. A new year is a time of hope and a chance to become more and more the person God wants us to be.

Many people make New Year resolutions. The message I want to share with you is this: try to make right choices, not just easy ones. When you choose what is good and true, you grow into the wonderful person God created you to be.

We thank God for the year that has passed with all its ups and downs. We live the present moment as a gift. And we look to the future with great hope because God is always with us no matter what happens.

On this first day of the year, the Church reminds us of Mary, the Mother of Jesus. She is our mother too. She loves us, supports us and prays with us so that we can become who God calls us to be.
