Описание к видео Lower Aguada Fort, Sinquerim Beach | 4K Goa India Walking Tour

This one is a short walk around the lower section of Goa's famous Aguada Fort, which was built in the 17th Century.
Back in the day, the upper section of the fort acted as a watering station, while the lower section provided a safe place for Portuguese ships.

ABOUT THE FORT:
Fort Aguada is a well-preserved seventeenth-century Portuguese fort, along with a lighthouse, standing in Goa, India, on Sinquerim Beach, overlooking the Arabian Sea. The fort was constructed in 1612 to guard against the Dutch and the Marathas. It was a reference point for the vessels coming from Europe at that time. This old Portuguese fort stands on the beach south of Candolim, at the shore of the Mandovi River. It is named for the freshwater spring that gives the fort a constant supply of potable water, ‘agua’ being the Portuguese word for water, and ‘Aguada’ signifying a place where water is collected. So well built and fiercely armed was this fort that it has never fallen into enemy hands. (Source: Wikipedia & Goa Tourism)
