A police investigation is underway in Leicester after a man was fatally stabbed near the campus of De Montford University.

An 18-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder after police were called just after 5pm on Tuesday regarding a man who had collapsed in Oxford Street.

Secretary of State Liz Kendall addressed the ongoing situation in the House of Commons, urging residents to use trusted sources of information to find details about the stabbing.
