May 2024 Gifted Summer Program (7 min video)

The May 2024 edition of the Gifted Summer Program was, by far, GenWise's largest group of students and staff, till date.

130 students from 78 top schools around the country, who had excelled at the 2-levels above-grade assessment (ASSET Talent Search), and 40+ staff participated in the Program.

40/ 130 students were children who were completing Grades 5 and 6!

Nearly 30 students (from across schools such as the Navodaya Vidayalaya Samiti, the schools of the Hippocampus Learning Centre, and the Vidyagyan Schools) received a full scholarship to attend this 3-week, Residential Program. We thank our sponsors (The Godrej Foundation, among others) for enabling this experience for these students.

The unique ingredients of such a Program were all too clearly visible - children tentative about how the Program might pan out, within 2-3 days of being at the Program, are completely excited about so many aspects: the welcoming staff (and senior students), excellent homely food, air-conditioned twin sharing rooms, campus buses to ferry them around, world-class classroom infrastructure (thanks to the Manipal Academy of Higher Education), spacious grounds for sport, diverse courses, and world-class mentors. Children tell us that they feel treated with dignity and acceptance that many of them may not experience consistently.

This was also a Device-Free Program (as all of our Programs are); children wedded to their devices, were apprehensive initially - there is literally NO free time - conversely, all time was free time. Except for those courses which demanded the use of a laptop, all the children were happy to complete their conversations with Parents within 5 minutes, after the first few days!!

It's impossible to convey in words the emotions and the experiences. We will be happy if this video manages to convey a fraction of the energy and buzz at the Program.
