The roots of The John Dummer Blues Band date back to Lester Square and the G.T's, a group formed in 1963. Founded by John Dummer, the band is completed by Chris Trengove (alto saxophone and vocals) and Elton Dean (tenor saxophone). With this formation, they have been giving concerts in England and Germany for about 2 years. Dummer then wanted to expand the band and founded the John Dummer Blues Band in 1965. Dummer, who initially handled vocals and harmonica, switched to drums as the band changed.

The biggest opportunity they have is to play at Studio 51 Club in London. They start giving concerts regularly every week on Sunday afternoons. When names such as John Mayall, Keef Hartley, Champion Jack Dupree, Long John Baldry, Duster Bennett and Alexis Korner attend these concerts as guest artists, the audience of John Dummer Blues Band begins to grow.

The album is generally composed of Blues standards. Although we categorize them as Blues Rock, we must admit that they are closer to Blues. At this point, we should point out that you need to listen to the album many times to understand how well the musicians in the band play. Because, in a way, Rock actually makes the job easier in Blues Rock. You base yourself on the Blues and play on top of it. But the situation here is different. There's so much that's close to pure Blues here, and it's really hard to do that. All the members of the band play so well that we cannot say this is good or that is good. Additionally, Jo Anne Kelly, who accompanies some tracks and stands out in others, should also be taken into consideration. Even though she doesn't have a very different and distinctive voice, she uses it so well in this album that the sentence Woman of Blues written on an old wooden board is engraved in one's mind.
