French hornist Brian Drake attended Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, winning a national audition for Second horn for the Rochester Philharmonic immediately upon graduation. Chosen by Music Director Carlo Maria Giulini, Drake joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 1979, and for many decades served in all of the French horn positions, holding the Loring Charitable Trust Chair, and has traveled the globe with the Philharmonic on tour. Drake has served on the faculties of California State University, Los Angeles; Chapman University; and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute. He has appeared at Marlboro, Los Angeles' Green Umbrella New Music Series, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Chamber Series, among many others.
