Huge shoutout to ToxicWhiteout and the entire team behind Fallout: Long 15. I had the chance to experience this mod up close shortly before release, and it’s easily one of my favorite expansions ever made for Fallout: New Vegas.
For years, the Fallout community has speculated about what truly happened in New California. Most of that story lived in scraps of dialogue, terminal entries, and Fallout 2’s distant aftermath. We knew the NCR had grown, but we rarely saw the machinery behind it.
Fallout 2 showed us how Shady Sands transformed from a sandcrete settlement into the political center of a rising republic. The use of the G.E.C.K. at the end of that game made it clear that the NCR would become something vast: a government, a military, and an economic power unlike anything else in the wasteland. Possibly the largest organized force left in the former United States.
What Long 15 does differently is show the cost of that growth.
When all the pieces are put together, the NCR isn’t just an army or a flag. It’s a massive bureaucracy. Forms, permits, taxes, logistics, supply chains, and a currency system stretched thin across California and the Mojave. Everyone eventually runs into it, whether they’re a citizen, a merchant, a veteran, or a super mutant trying to retire.
At the same time, the Republic faces pressure from every direction. High taxes, internal corruption, fragile trade routes, and the looming threat of Caesar’s Legion in Arizona. Many people in the Mojave barely understand what the Legion really is, or even doubt it exists at all. Others fear the NCR is expanding faster than it can hold itself together.
Fallout: Long 15 sends you straight into the center of that tension.
You’ll find yourself doing everything from office paperwork and navigating NCR records systems, to meeting the real power brokers: brahmin barons, water merchants, political fixers, radio personalities, and the criminal underworld operating in and around Baker. The mod explores how the Republic actually functions day to day, and how fragile the logistical and monetary pipeline really is beneath the surface.
