Let's review each episode of the classic Cartoon Network cartoon Samurai Jack in (mostly)under a minute!
Transcript:
Episode 95 actually has a very good beginning, where Jack somehow survives his hundred-foot drop and realizes the carnage he's caused, hallucinating a flock of crows calling him a murderer. I like this a lot better than Mad Jack trying to shame him in the last episode, because it shows that, even if Jack shouldn't be hesitant about killing someone, he still has to come to terms with it afterwards. And it turns out one of the daughters, named Ashi, survived and tries again to kill Jack, but he leaves her hanging with her own chain, and it's really funny watching her fling threats and insults as she repeatedly swings on and off camera. Sadly, the good mostly comes to an end as they're swallowed by an enormous monster, and we basically get an extended version of Episode 21, where Jack has to escape the internal world of the creatures innards. Oh, wait, it's not just Jack, as he also has to drag along Ashi, as she's all the while screaming at him and even trying to get them both killed. With both Mad Jack and a British puffball insisting he leave her behind. And no, that's not a slur, he hallucinates a talking bit of pollen with an English accent. To the episode's credit, the visuals are great, with some very imaginative environments that seem solid yet organic. And Jack once again proves he's a master with any and all weapons he can get his hands on. Probably my favorite part is Jack defeating a monster offscreen, since not seeing the fight makes it funnier to imagine what happened. Plus Jack's scream of annoyance as he tries to fend off monsters while Ashi is still trying to kill him. And we get some impressive lighting and color effects depending on where they are in the creature's anatomy. Sadly, through all this, we have to deal with Jack and Ashi bickering, with Jack repeatedly trying and failing to keep his patience. And based on this, you can probably tell where the rest of the show is going. It's going to be every romance plot ever, where the leads absolutely hate each other, but in the end, they can't live without one another. Yes, this "more mature" take on an action-based series has decided to model itself after a Hallmark Christmas movie. Heck, they even give Jack really cheesy lines found in one of those flicks, where he's trying to joke and improve the mood, when him saying absolutely nothing would have helped so much more. I'm not opposed to Ashi being turned to his side, and even them becoming friends, but not in the way they're showing it. And it's about to get SO much worse! After a sequence involving alien fauna and a skeletal flying fish, with again some great lighting effects, they exit out the creature and into an ocean, I don't know how they got there either. But they find an island, and Ashi even finds her weapon. But before she can use it, she sees Jack being kind to a ladybug, which reminds her of how she tried to be kind to one, but her mother kills it because it's not part of Aku's order. Meaning this should actually give Ashi MORE reason to kill Jack, as he's interacting with things that go against her teachings, but it's what convinces her to join Jack. Yeah, this is where the show starts to really plummet in quality and doesn't stop until it hits the ground with a wet smelly splat. And overall, I think I actually WOULD rather watch Disney's Strange World.
