সিরিয়া, নিরীহ জন-সাধারণের চোখের পানিতে ভেসে যাওয়া এক জনপদের নাম । এক যুগ ধরে দেশটিতে চলছে গৃহযুদ্ধ। এরই মধ্যে নিহত হয়েছে পাঁচ লাখের অধিক লোক, আহত অন্তত ১০ লাখ । দেশ ছাড়তে বাধ্য হয়েছে দেশটির প্রায় অর্ধেক মানুষ। খাবার, পানি, আহতদের চিকিৎসা, রাতে মাথা গোঁজার ঠাঁই— সবই তাদের কাছে একটি অলীক স্বপ্নমাত্র। মানবতা আজ সেখানে ভূলুণ্ঠিত। এক সময়ের সমৃদ্ধ দেশটি এখন রীতিমতো ধ্বংসস্তূপ, যুদ্ধের ভারে শ্রান্ত। ২০১১ সালের মার্চে দেশটিতে যে সংকটের সূচনা, আজও তার সমাধান হয়নি। দেশটিতে এক মুসলমানের হাত আরেক মুসলমানের রক্তে রঞ্জিত হচ্ছে । এ যেন রক্তের হোলি উৎসব ।
