An ex-Royal servant claims that King Charles' private phone line was once mistaken for a takeout store.
Former Royal Butler Grant Harrold joked at the launch of his new book, 'The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life of Royal Service,' that His Majesty's routinely got calls from an unknown number requesting Chinese food.
"I remember once somebody got hold of the King's private phone and they phoned him up thinking he was a Chinese takeaway," the 47-year-old said.
"They placed an order, hoping to obtain a Chinese. He just stated, 'I'm not a Chinese takeout; you've got the incorrect number.' "But they kept calling him back," Grant explained. "Eventually, he had to get us to speak to them and say, 'This is the wrong number'."
Grant went on to describe how the King's younger son, Prince Harry, invited him for a takeout supper.
"I declined, but I sat down with them while they had it, just informally," according to him. "It was really fun, and I thought, this is obviously how they've been brought up."
