Welcome to History Videos for Kids! This week we are learning about the English Civil War. The English Kings had felt that they were given the right to be king by God, which caused them to not want to listen to anyone else. Parliament did not like King Charles' decisions and so they were forming people to stand against the throne. The battle was fought between the Cavaliers and the Roundheads. Oliver Cromwell was a leader of the Roundheads and he eventually became ruler of England. He was Protestant and fought against Catholic influences. Cromwell eventually alienated himself with the English as well and the throne was returned the King Charles II.
