   • The Scratchy E-Bell Has Been Replaced!  

This is a type 2 or 3 Western-Cullen Hayes electronic railroad crossing bell. There is a General Signals e-bell on the other side which was installed along with the whole signal, as it was replaced for some reason.

For some reason, this bell has a very scratchy and ugly sound to it. It's not producing the sound it should. I can see a mechanical bell failing, but an electronic bell? All it is made of is a speaker and a circuit board. If I was take a guess, maybe rain got into it and shorted out the circuit board. According to a helpful comment, the speaker amplifier or speaker driver on this is blown. Either way, I'm sure all you Western Cullen Hayes haters out there will get a kick out of this. :D
