This is a song from Gene Clark’s final concert. After excellent versions of “Eight Miles High,” “Your Fire Burning,” and “She Darked the Sun,” Gene and band played an impassioned version of The Beatles classic, “Don’t Let Me Down.” While Gene previously covered the same song over 20 years earlier with Dillard and Clark, this reading is more soulful and hits you straight in the heart. Obviously, he was really feeling it. Gene was a huge John Lennon fan. Just another example of the excellent music going down at the Cinegrill during Gene’s last show ever.
