In March and April 2021, fires raged through the Similipal biosphere reserve in India. The area has seen a dramatic increase in fires as a result of the climate crisis, threatening people and wildlife.

The Similipal is Asia’s second-largest biosphere reserve, known for its tiger
and elephant population. It is also home to a large variety of endangered flora and fauna as well as 1,265 indigenous villages.
