Goda Masala is a type of mix spice that is used in numerous recipe, especially in Maharashtrian recipes.

"Goda" means sweet - this spice mix is sweet in aroma and hence the name Goda Masala. This is a much lighter version of "Kala Masala".

We have prepared this Masala (Spice Mix) by leveraging the spices that are available in the market locally. It essentially involves roasting multiple spices and then grinding them together to form a spice-mix. This avoids the ready-made packets that are available in the market which have one or the other form of preservatives.

The quantities mentioned in the recipe can last a really long time - especially if you roast the dry coconut really well and store the masala in an air tight container. The batch that we have just prepared lasts us for about 5-6 months.
