HEI Distributor Installation for V-8s

Video showing the proper way to install an HEI distributor. This really cleans up the plug wiring and the position of the distributor housing makes for a nice looking engine. Most all of the older domestic V-8s have a firing order of 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2, (except Ford), and in the case of the Chevy, the distributor rotation is clockwise. The number 1 post on the HEI is the second one, clockwise from the power input terminal. When the distributor is installed like the factory original the power input terminal and vacuum advance canister are positioned as shown in the video. In most cases the odd numbered cylinders are from front to rear on the drivers side 1-3-5-7 and even cylinders are front to rear on the passenger side 2-4-6-8. Plug wires 2 and 3 will cross over to the opposite side of the distributor. They can be neatly routed in front of or behind the distributor.
