About the song:
"let me in" is an Electronic R&B composition and memoire of the last day spent with a friend who fell victim to suicide. It is track 2 of 6 songs on the “good” byes EP which was written, produced, and recorded by Ikwe in her home studio. It will be released on Sept. 6th along with an experimental music video. Each song on the EP has a unique video, and will be released individually over a period of 6 weeks. The ‘“good” byes’ EP will be released Oct. 11th and celebrated with a virtual party.

About the Artist:
Ikwe (formerly known as Kelsey Pyro) is a Brooklyn based Black and Ojibwe artist from St. Paul / Minneapolis Minnesota. Ikwe is the Ojibwe word for woman. Specializing in Alternative R&B, music production, sound art, and performance art her work often incorporates genres, experiences, and stories from her African American and Native American identity. Ikwe has had the opportunity to perform at venues such as Lincoln Center, The Shed NYC, Soundset Music Festival, and First Avenue, She is also a recipient of The Shed at Hudson Yards Open Call Artist in Residence program, The Wyckoff House X Lincoln Center Protest Garden artist residency, and the 2018 and 2019 Brooklyn Arts Council Community Arts grant. Her most recent work, “ ‘good’ byes”, an experimental music film created in collaboration with Kino Galbraith, premiered in Oct. 2020 at the Brooklyn Prelude Festival. Her sound can be likened to Kelela, Blood Orange, FKA Twigs, and the Weeknd cerca 2011.
