It all started when my 3rd husband, Harry, made me get his name tattooed on my chest.
Harry was a violent man and after 10 months of hell, he was finally out of my apartment and soon out of my life for good. I covered his name with a Lion....hee,hee. Wish I could've fed him to a lion!
Soon, I was getting roses tattooed on my chest and a heart on my arm. The roses were done by Dave at Belmont Tattoo and then those were covered up by Craig Toth at Homeward Bound Tattoo. The heart on my arm was inked freehand by Tony Samson. He didn't use a drawing first and he didn't use a stencil. He just dipped the needle into the ink and started outlining it. This was done in a Redwood City Tattoo place (now closed)
Carl Hanes did most of the work on my back. He started out in his basement in Belmont and then he opened up a shop called International Tattoo Garden on El Camino Real in Belmont, CA. I miss Carl. The last I heard, Carl was in Texas.
Craig Toth has done the most incredible work on me. His talent is amazing and I imagine he has moved on to bigger and better places to tattoo.
I have a few cover-ups. "Harry" is covered several times over underneath the lion and "Spencer," my 4th husband, is covered up on my ankle. Small roses are covered up under the flowers on my right chest. If I wanted to put another name on me, I would do it again. Covering them is easy when you have the right artist.
Unfortunately, Mike Ray, moved to Seattle and did not want to tattoo me. I think he was too busy.
My next artist is located in Ukiah, CA and his name is Mark. Mark owns Trust Tattoo just off North State Street and he is a very talented man! He comes well recommended.
