Atari 8-Bit Collection (Part 1) - Atari 130XE, AtariMax Carts, Sio2SD Disk Emulator and Games

Описание к видео Atari 8-Bit Collection (Part 1) - Atari 130XE, AtariMax Carts, Sio2SD Disk Emulator and Games

In this 57-minute video, I use my Atari 130XE to play a few games and I show just a small bit of my collection. First, I show a close-up of the system's keyboard, then I show the computer set up with an Atari 2600 CX-40 joystick and a Toshiba 14" flat screen CRT TV. I flip through the Atari BASIC manual and show five AtariMax 8Mb (1 megabyte) cartridges, a 1GB MyIDE II SD cartridge reader and the Sio2Sd disk drive emulator.

I show a printed listing of the contents of my first AtariMax game compilation cartridge along with overviews and descriptions of those games. I type in a two-line BASIC program; it's "Hello, world!," of course. I display two original cartridges: Star Raiders and Defender.

I play Miner 2049er and then I zoom into the TV (which gets a bit blurry sometimes, but it's viewable) and I play Defender, Encounter!, Beamrider, Bounty Bob Strikes Back, Stellar Shuttle, Oil's Well, Dig Dug and the 1988 XE re-release of Mario Bros.

I hook up and play games from the emulated floppy disk on the Sio2Sd. I take a brief tour of The Temple of Apshai Trilogy. I end my journey into Atari's 8-bit space by playing the 2018 homebrew conversion of the Commodore 64 3D title, Stunt Car Racer.

This video was inspired by Quinn Tech Retro's video, "My Atari 800 XL (Part 2) Troubleshooting, Getting it Working, So Many Games..." Give it a look:

In my next video I'll explore some more Atari titles using my camera's manual focus, so the videos of the games should be clearer. I'll also dig through some more of my Atari collection, taking a look at some books and Atari hardware and maybe some original software that I own.
