Chapter 20: Moses’ Song and Blessing
As Moses’ days drew to a close, God commanded him: “Write ye this song… that this song may be a witness for me” (Deuteronomy 31:19, KJV).
In Deuteronomy 32, Moses sang the Song of Moses — a prophetic hymn exalting God’s justice, recounting His care for Israel, warning against idolatry, and promising final redemption: “He is the Rock, his work is perfect… just and right is he” (Deut. 32:4, KJV).
Then in Deuteronomy 33, Moses blessed the twelve tribes:
Reuben: Preservation of life.

Judah: Victory and unity.

Levi: Honor in teaching God’s law.

Benjamin: Safety in God’s presence.

Joseph’s tribes: Abundance and strength.

Others: Courage, prosperity, and divine favor.

He ended with joy: “Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD” (Deut. 33:29, KJV).
This chapter shows Moses as both worshiper and prophet — sealing his ministry with praise and blessing before ascending Mount Nebo for the final time.
