The Nine (often represented as the IX; also known as the ennead) are a group of enigmatic entities affiliated with the planets of the Sol System. They control several locations within the Unknown Space, a mysterious region within the Ascendant Realm whose nature is poorly understood. The Nine are intelligent beings composed of dark matter, which developed cognition after being pulled into loops by the gravity of Sol and its planets. Their existence is predicated on the existence of those planets, particularly the life that developed on them and every system in the galaxy and likely larger with every life form; hence, their primary concern is sustaining that existence, whether by protecting that life or by finding a way to end their reliance on it.

Xûr is the Agent of the Nine. Xûr's coming and going depends on the planetary alignments, as he hails from the Jovians, a place beyond even The Reef that the Guardians have yet to adequately explore. He is subservient to the Nine, enigmatic rulers of the Jovians, the section of the Solar System past the asteroid belt. Xûr claims that his will is not his own, and he is in complete servitude to The Nine. It is important to note that he is not one of them.

Each week, Xur will bring a new Invitation of the Nine to purchase. Buying the invitation will set you on a trip around the solar system.

Week 1: The World
Visit the Nine. They’ll show you visions of how they first struck a deal with Drifter. Go through the portal, and jump into the void like you would in Reckoning. Speak with the Emissary, and learn how Drifter got the ice ball attached to his ship. If you stop back by Drifter, he’ll have some choice words about the visions the Nine showed you aboard the Derelict.

Take justice into your own hands as you venture into a new frontier filled with enemies, allies, and untold mysteries and treasures waiting to be uncovered. The hunt is on.

The Reef has fallen to lawlessness, and now the most-wanted criminals in the galaxy – the Barons & Uldren Sov – have organized a jailbreak at the Prison of Elders. You and Cayde-6 have been sent in to bring law and order back to the embattled facility, but things do not go to plan. Facing insurmountable odds, Cayde-6 ends up paying the ultimate price. Beyond the Vanguard’s authority, you’ll venture into the Reef alone and take justice into your own hands. Explore new regions, awaken new powers, earn a wealth of new weapons, and uncover lost Awoken secrets. The hunt is on.

Destiny 2: Forsaken is a major expansion for Destiny 2, a first-person shooter video game by Bungie. Released on September 4, 2018, as the third expansion of Destiny 2, it revolves around the player's Guardian seeking to avenge the death of Cayde-6 by the hands of Prince Uldren Sov. Uldren, corrupted by the Darkness, is in search of his lost sister, Queen Mara Sov, both of whom were thought to have died in Destiny: The Taken King. Along their journey, players face the Scorn, undead versions of the Fallen race that have been revived and morphed into a new race. Forsaken adds content across the game, including new missions, Player versus Environment locations, Player versus Player maps, player gear, weaponry, a brand new PvE/PvP hybrid game mode and a new raid. Upon the expansion's release, retailers also issued Destiny 2: Forsaken Legendary Collection, which included the Destiny 2 base game, Forsaken, and the previous two expansions, Curse of Osiris and Warmind. An Annual Pass was also released alongside the expansion, which granted access to the seasonal content for Year 2 of the game.
