How To TACKLE SOMEONE BIGGER in Rugby

Описание к видео How To TACKLE SOMEONE BIGGER in Rugby

How to tackle players who are WAYYY bigger and stronger than you!!

Step 1:
Determine your opponent's position and accelerate into him/her.
Accelerating into your opponent will generate a lot of power and strength for you to bring down your opponent. Even if they are heavier and stronger than you are, transforming speed to power will always be more powerful than pure strength.

Step 2:
Remember this: SHOULDER TO THIGH, HANDS TO CALVES.
By aiming your shoulder to your opponent's thigh, you will naturally get in a stance that is stable and sturdy. However, one thing to keep in mind is that you should always keep your head up and look forward. This helps you react quickly to sidesteps or evasion moves from your opponent.
For the hand positioning during the tackle, make sure your hands grab tightly on your opponent's calves. The thinnest part of the leg is the calf, which means that it is the weakest part. If you grab tightly on your opponent's calves, they will lose their balance easily and you tackle will be successful.

Step 3:
I didn't cover this in the video, but after the tackle, remember to get to your feet ASAP. Whether you are going to go for a jackal or simple move out of the way, make sure you get up quickly.

Hopefully this video helps!
