Texas homeowners, please don’t make this mistake.

Planting trees and shrubs too close to your foundation can cause serious problems. Trees pull a lot of water from the soil, and in Texas our soil is very sensitive to moisture. That can lead to shifting and foundation movement over time.

Roots can also interfere with irrigation systems and create expensive repairs. I’m not saying never plant trees, but placement matters.

If you’re considering a home with mature trees, check the height and distance from the house. A beautiful yard should not become a foundation problem.
