VTP messages are used to communicate VLAN information between Cisco switches. The main types of VTP messages are:

Summary Advertisements:

Summary advertisements are sent every 5 minutes by default or whenever there is a change in the VLAN configuration. These messages include important information about the VTP domain, such as the VTP version, domain name, and configuration revision number.
If there is a higher revision number on a neighboring switch, other switches in the domain update their VLAN information to match.
Subset Advertisements:

These messages are sent when there are changes in VLANs (like adding or deleting a VLAN). They contain details of the specific changes, such as VLAN ID, VLAN name, and VLAN type.
Subset advertisements are sent immediately following a summary advertisement if there are updates that need to be shared.
Advertisement Requests:

When a switch joins a VTP domain, it sends an advertisement request to ask for the current VLAN configuration.
This request triggers a summary advertisement from other switches in the VTP domain, allowing the new switch to sync with the VLAN configuration.
