Praised by The New York Times as "deeply communicative and engrossing," violinist Ayano Ninomiya creates dynamic performances across concert halls, private homes, and schools. The Boston Globe noted, "A note from her was never just a note...Whatever project she takes on next, it is sure to be worth a listen."
Equally at home as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician, Ayano has performed worldwide, including at Carnegie Hall, the Music Mountain Festival, and the Moab Festival. She has appeared with A Far Cry, the Jacksonville Symphony, and chamber ensembles like Boston Chamber Music Society and the Chameleon Arts Ensemble. A frequent participant in festivals such as Marlboro, Ravinia, and Bowdoin, she also tours with "Musicians from Marlboro" and co-founded ECCO, a conductorless string orchestra.
Her accolades include prizes from the Naumburg International Violin Competition and Tibor Varga Competition, among others. As a recording artist, she has released albums as a soloist and with the Ying Quartet, including American Anthem (*Sono Luminus*).
A sought-after educator and lecturer, Ayano is on the faculty of New England Conservatory and has given TEDx talks and presentations on topics like Aikido and music. Her initiatives have supported causes such as earthquake relief and youth education. Ayano holds degrees from Harvard (magna cum laude) and Juilliard and studied at the Franz Liszt Academy in Hungary. In her spare time, she enjoys painting and practicing Aikido.
Pianist Pei-Shan Lee’s dynamic career spans performances at renowned venues such as The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Boston’s Jordan Hall, Taiwan’s National Concert Hall, and tours across Europe, Israel, and Asia. She has appeared at prestigious festivals, including Mostly Mozart, Caramoor, Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival, and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory’s International Piano Festival in Moscow.
A dedicated educator, Ms. Lee serves on the Collaborative Piano and Chamber Music faculty at New England Conservatory and created the MM in Collaborative Piano at California State University Northridge. She also leads the Collaborative Piano Fellowships at the Bowdoin International Music Festival.
Ms. Lee has collaborated with celebrated musicians such as Itzhak Perlman, Donald Weilerstein, Kim Kashkashian, and Stefan Jackiw, and ensembles including the Jupiter, Harlem, and Formosa String Quartets. Her live performances are frequently featured on WQXR, WGBH, and WRCJ. She is also a faculty member at the Perlman Music Program and has held roles at the Chautauqua School of Music and Cleveland Institute of Music.
A winner of Taiwan’s National Piano Competition, Ms. Lee holds degrees from NEC (DMA), The Juilliard School (MM), Cleveland Institute of Music (Artist Diploma), and Manhattan School of Music (BM). Her doctoral thesis, *The Collaborative Pianist: Balancing Roles in Partnership*, is a valuable resource for developing collaborative piano programs and is being translated into Chinese.
