Sumatran elephants are known for their social behavior, living in close-knit family groups led by a matriarch. They are herbivorous, feeding on a variety of vegetation, and play a critical role in maintaining the health and balance of their forest habitat. However, Sumatran elephants face severe threats from habitat loss due to deforestation, logging, and conversion of land for agriculture, as well as human-elephant conflict and poaching. Conservation efforts, including habitat protection, mitigation of human-elephant conflict, and anti-poaching measures, are crucial for their survival and the preservation of this iconic and endangered species.
