Renault Duster Clutch Replacement | Genuine OES Spares | Duster Poor Pickup Issue Solved | MotoFyx

We had this 2015 Renault Duster visit one of our MotoFyx car repair workshop, for an annual service along with a concern relating the car’s transmission. The car owner had started having troubles with the clutch of the car for a very long period of time, due to which overtime there was also a significant drop in power output which was noticed, which made it difficult to drive the car especially over inclinations. Looking to get the transmission concern fixed, the car owner reached out to us for immediate assistance.

Upon a detailed inspection of the car by our expert technicians, an initial road trial did indicate signs of a weak clutch set, due to which the clutch was unable to transmit sufficient torque and hence there was low power output to the wheels. Dismantling the gearbox it was found that the clutch frictional plate was worn out and had developed cracks on account of ageing. The release bearing was also in bad shape and found to be ineffective while engaging/disengaging. With the pressure plate also having developed burn marks, the entire clutch set required immediate replacement.

*Function of the Clutch:
- Clutch mechanism is used to both engage and disengage the power transmission from the driving shaft on to the driven shaft, ensuring smooth power transmission to the engine, enabling smooth movement

*Symptoms of weak/failing clutch:
- Engine revs but acceleration is poor
- Burning smell upon acceleration
- Difficulty shifting gears
- Hard to operate clutch pedal
- Noise from clutch pedal

*Solution:
- The drive shafts were disconnected and the gearbox was dismantled
- The worn out clutch set and release bearing were replaced with new parts
- Gearbox was assembled
- Transmission oil was replaced
- Annual service was performed
