Over the years Colt has factory chambered 13 different cartridges in 1911-pattern pistols and at least 12 more have been adapted to the 1911. No fighting pistol in history has been chambered in so wide a variety of cartridges to perform on such a wide variety of missions. This no FUDD weapons system ... it is just a further example of the Genius of John M. Browning.
