Laverne and Shirley were two iconic roommates that delivered laughs and a cast of lovable characters. After airing from 1976 to 1983, each cast member pursued quite different lives. Michael McKeen's breakthrough role was as Lenny Kosniwski. McKean even directed one episode, and the characters became something of a phenomenon, even releasing an album as Lenny and the Squigtones in 1979. McKean also played his character in an episode of Happy Days. After leaving Laverne & Shirley in 1982, McKean played David St. Hubbins in the comedy This Is Spinal Tap with both Guest and Shearer, and appeared in the spoof Young Doctors in Love.

David Lander is known for his portrayal of Squiggy in Laverne & Shirley. He also served as a Goodwill ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Sadly, he just recently died of complications from multiple sclerosis at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, on December 4, 2020. He was 73 years old.

Cindy Williams is known for her role as Shirley Feeney. She left the show after the second episode of the show's eighth and what would become its final season, after she became pregnant with her first child. The show's various producers were not enthusiastic that Williams was pregnant, as her character Shirley was not pregnant. Williams and co-star Penny Marshall had also been feuding for quite some time on the set long before Williams became pregnant. They would reconcile many years later.

Penny Marshall is known for her role as Laverne DeFazio, receiving three nominations for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy for her portrayal. In 2010, it was reported that Marshall had been diagnosed with lung cancer that had metastasized to her brain, but two years later she was 'fine now'. Following her recovery she published a memoir, My Mother Was Nuts. She died in Los Angeles on December 17, 2018, at the age of 75. According to her death certificate, the causes were cardiopulmonary failure, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and diabetes mellitus type 1.

Betty Garrett was known as landlady Edna Babish, but also as Archie Bunker's politically-liberal neighbor Irene Lorenzo in All in the Family. Garrett died of an aortic aneurysm in Los Angeles on February 12, 2011 at the age of 91. Her body was cremated.

Phil Foster is best known for his portrayal of Frank DeFazio. Demonstrating his versatility, Foster embarked upon a literary career and completed a play and two story outlines. In addition to his club work, acting and writing talents, he also ran a workshop for young actor-comedians called the Foster Children. Foster died of a heart attack in Rancho Mirage, California on July 8, 1985 at the age of 72.

Eddie Mekka is best known for his role as Carmine Ragusa, or The Big Ragoo. Since Laverne and Shirley, he's performed in Broadway and off-Broadway, as well as some minor television roles.
