Numerous storms on the 18th February 2024. Despite ordinary shear, CAPE values were high and moisture abundant. Numerous severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for Central Eastern parts of New South Wales from as early as 1.30pm. The vast majority of these were for heavy to locally intense rainfall. A thunderstorm near Bungonia, NSW around 4pm was stronger. This thunderstorm impacted the interstate Hume Hwy near Marulan, NSW and I am sure that traffic chaos would have ensued due to blinding rainfall and small hail. I choose not to core punch this storm due to potential traffic incidents. Notes on individual images.
