NEW DELHI - JAMMU TAWI RAJDHANI EXPRESS

Along with the arrival of Monsoon in New Delhi this season, Northern Railway has decided to introduce LHB coaches in Jammu Rajdhani from 15th June 2013.

In order to provide additional facilities and accommodation to rail passengers, "The New Delhi-Jammu Tawi - New Delhi Rajdhani Express is now equipped with LHB coaches.

Keeping in mind the increasing passenger demand for the train, the old ICF coaches were replaced with LHB ones which have more carrying capacity Currently, the Jammu Tawi Rajdhani, a daily service, runs with conventional coaches having one AC 1 coach with 18 berths, four AC 2 tier coaches with 45 berths each and 10 AC 3 tier coaches which have 72 berths each.
The LHB coach of AC 1 has 24 berths, AC 2 tier coach has 52 berths and three-tier AC coach has 80 berths each.
Linke Holfmann Busch (LHB) coaches are being manufactured at Kapurthala and Rae Bareli coach factories.
Now... with the introduction of LHB rake, the accommodation in Jammu Rajdhani Express is increased by six additional berths in AC 1 coach, 28 additional berths in AC 2 tier and 80 additional berths in AC 3 tier coaches.
It means the total capacity of the train is increased by 114 berths per day.

About The Rajdhani Trains:

Rajdhani Express is one amongst the fastest train services in India. This passenger train service connects New Delhi, the national capital city, with other considerable destinations particularly capitals of several states in India. In 1969, Rajdhani Express was commenced to provide high-speed connections from different railway stations of New Delhi to several state capitals and important cities of India. The speed could vary from 140 km per hour to 87 km per hour determined by the particular track section.

Rajdhani Express trains have fully air-conditioned coaches, where passengers are offered comfort along with delicious meals. As per the timings of the train, the travelers are served with lunch, tea, breakfast, dinner etc. Most of these trains have three classes of accommodation, where the First Class AC embraces 2 or 4 berth lockable bedrooms, the Second Class AC 2-tier ensures regular system of berths with curtains and the Second Class AC 3-tier boasts of open system of berths without curtains.

As of now, Indian Railways has 19 pairs of Rajdhani Express trains. These trains take halt at few stations, which are generally the important cities of any state. There are numerous cities that are served by more than one Rajdhani Express. Amongst such cities, Kanpur and Mughal Sarai top the list with maximum number of 6 Rajdhani trains serving each. Rajdhani Express offers a pleasant journey to every passenger. Here is given a list containing the major destinations of Rajdhani Trains from Delhi.
