20231108 2nd alarm 150 South Hickory Street Mount Carmel, Pa

1 firefighter injured during Mount Carmel blaze.
Just before noon Mount Carmel fire department and surrounding units were alert to a reported working fire at 5th & Hickory in town.
Police were first on scene and confirmed a working fire with everyone out of the building.
Due to time of day and the amount of fire showing a second alarm was quickly struck.
During the fire, one firefighter was checked for injuries and transported as a precautionary measure due to a fall.
Firefighters from as far as Catawissa, Shamokin Dam, Danville and Ashland were dispatched to the scene to help control the blaze.
As of this post NO official cause has been determined and the fire and cause are still under investigation.


The Homeowner said it best “Thank God Atlas showed up with a full trained crew. They got water to the fire while Anthracite could not figure out what to do!” "The reality in town the fire department needs training.”

This fire has been ruled accidental in nature.
