. It’s been pretty clear to me that if I publicly criticised the regime that I would never be allowed to return and so I stayed silent, but I just can’t do that anymore. Iranian people are kind, loving, welcoming, passionate and truly respectful. The treatment that they’ve received for the past 50 years has been abhorrent and deeply upsetting. If I’m being completely honest, I’ve always felt closer to my Irish roots because I’ve always been closer to my mum who is Irish. But it’s in times like this, when I see protesters marching in Tehran, a place where I once lived, that my Iranian pride once again runs deep. I’m not even sure what I’m trying to accomplish with this post, and I’m sure I definitely could have worded this better, but I just felt like it was necessary to speak up and let people know that I stand with the Iranian community in their fight for freedom and peace against all those who seek to oppress them ❤️ It’s hard for me to know when to speak up and what to say when I do. I might not always have all the facts, or outline things in the most educational way, but I’ll try my best to continue sharing understanding, compassion and kindness 🙌🏼🙏🏼
