Meet Count Galenmir Palewalker, a noble leader who arrived in Teliboria over twenty years ago from a major elven city of the Old World. Known for both his sharp business acumen and community spirit, Galenmir quickly rose to prominence in Oshmabel. He built a thriving merchant empire and generously funded the early expansion of what is now known as the Haunted Bank district. Respected and beloved, Galenmir became a vital member of the city council and a trusted figure within the largest merchant guild and the local communities.

But even the brightest stars fall. During the second wave of the undead invasion, Galenmir’s mansion became the heart of the battle. The Count and his loyal defenders made their last stand within its grand halls, fighting until they fell to the overwhelming undead forces. However, death did not release Galenmir from his duty. In the aftermath of the battle, eerie phenomena began to spread from his mansion, leading to its new title. The Haunted Mansion of Count Galenmir Palewalker.

His mansion, once a symbol of his nobility and wealth, is now a foreboding place of paranormal activity. It is said that the two priestly orders that moved into the city after the Undead Onslaught, established temples around the mansion not to protect the city from its unearthly forces, but to study and harness their power. Despite calls to demolish it, the mansion stands, an eerie landmark encircled by protective spells, filled with ghostly whispers and undead secrets.

Count Galenmir Palewalker himself is now a tragic figure within the mansion; a vampire cursed to roam its haunted halls. Adventurers brave enough to enter will find the place a labyrinth of horrors. Ghost hags haunt the first floor, while the basement conceals the sarcophagi of elven vampires, including that of the Count and his converted followers. Beneath the mansion lies a sprawling catacomb infested with zombies, and the attic holds a minor but persistent ghost infestation. Adventurers may see this as a mere dungeon crawl, but those who dig deeper will uncover even greater mysteries tied to Oshmabel.

Each layer of the mansion presents new challenges, and new rewards. The vampire sarcophagi conceal ancient artifacts, some of which are rumored to be linked to the city’s past or other historical Teliborean figures. Ghost hags, on the other hand, protect dark secrets about the noble families of the city, perhaps granting the party leverage against powerful houses.

If encountered, Count Galenmir may not immediately attack. Instead, he may ask for help to end his cursed existence. His quest? Recover a magical silver sword buried deep within the mansion’s catacombs, one of the few artifacts capable of releasing him from his eternal suffering. Success in this quest not only grants adventurers Galenmir’s gratitude, but also a treasure from his centuries of wealth.

However, if attacked, the Count will defend himself fiercely. Despite his power, he will not destroy those who confront him, leaving a chance for redemption, should they return with a better understanding of his plight.

Game masters can use Count Galenmir Palewalker as a pivotal figure in their Teliborean campaigns, drawing adventurers into the Haunted Mansion's dark corridors and its secrets. Will your players help this tragic vampire find peace, or will they see him as another challenge to overcome?
