Solid foods are a very important part of a 9 month old's diet. If you're having a hard time getting your baby to eat solid foods I'm going to give you some tricks as a mom, not as a nurse, because I have a child that is seven months old and sometimes he doesn't want to open his mouth either. You can try things that are going to make him laugh, so goofy faces, funny sounds, mimic, like say, open your mouth, ahh. It's really important to talk to your children as you feed them. Say things like yummy. Tell them what it is, involve them in the eating process and that will get them excited. If they laugh at you and open their mouth then hurry and stick the food in. The most important part is though that your baby is gaining weight. If there is any question about how much child weighs, if it's too much or too little, make sure to talk to the pediatrician and they can put it on the graph and talk to you about your child's growth and if there is a concern they can talk to you about different things you can do to help get your child more calories.
