Last summer, while on a birdwatching trip around the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge auto tour route I came across a scene where the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources was catching Canada geese with airboats to tag the geese with leg bands before releasing them back into the wild, helping biologists study and track goose migration and survival rates. Each summer, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources catches, bands, and releases thousands of Canada geese on state, federal, and privately-owned wetlands. On this particular morning, they were on the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge auto tour route.
