Keki Daruwalla, one of India’s finest poets who wrote in English and winner of the Sahitya Akademi award, passed away today. He was 87.
Born in Lahore in 1937 into a Parsi family, he studied at Government College, Ludhiana. His family moved to Junagarh before Partition and then to Rampur. In 1958, he joined the Indian Police Services (Uttar Pradesh cadre). He rose to become a Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on International Affairs.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
