Staying hidden is extremely stressful in MGO - the challenge for someone willing to spend a match marking is to do so without being discovered. A scout can also diversify somewhat by tranq sniping at the same time, as MGO will only reveal a killer's location. A successful stun headshot won't even reveal the shooter's direction to the victim. Tranq sniping is usually best for setting up a fulton. It's also good for fulton saves and can annoy the hell out of enemy snipers, who often place themselves far from team mates and have no choice but to wait out the full recovery period.

There are many ways in which a player's location can be revealed - E-LOC grenades, NVGs, interrogation of a team mate... So sometimes you have to move. The worst thing a sniper can encounter is an enemy with NVGs actively hunting them at close range.

This video starts halfway through a match, after I've snuck behind the enemy. My buddy for the game ('x') is an infiltrator so he's using the opportunity to spawn on my location - this results in a blue flash which can often give you away - in fact, there's a tense moment when I have to bug out after a group of the opposing team decide to try and track me down. I spend the rest of the match in a more secure location.

The second round consists of sneaking behind the lines again, and getting into a tricky position in the enemy spawn - the combination of camo and laying still is the best get out of jail free card a scout has. Without being able to rely on the semi-invisibility an infiltrator can utilise, sometimes an audacious bit of placement helps.
