KTM Komuter Northern Sector or Komuter Utara has be extended to Ipoh Railway Station from 16 September 2023, serving 3 new stations, Kuala Kangsar, Sungai Siput, and Ipoh. This is an extension of the former Butterworth-Padang Rengas Line, with direct access to Kuala Kangsar, and a new high catchment city of Ipoh, the capital of Perak. The Butterworth-Padang Rengas Line became the Butterworth-Ipoh Line on 16 September 2023.

The KTM Komuter Northern Sector, also known as the Komuter Utara, provides local all-stop train services on the Northern Corridor Economic Region in Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak, with trains running on the Butterworth-Padang Besar Line and Butterworth-Ipoh Line.
