2 Greatest Compact Cars of All Time! Now Forgotten!

We're looking at two amazing cars that changed the auto world: the Ford Cortina Lotus and the Fiat 128. But now they are almost forgotten.
First up, the Ford Cortina Lotus. This cool sports sedan was made from 1963 to 1970. It was a team effort between Ford and Lotus Cars. The Cortina Lotus had a special 1.6-liter engine that gave it 105 horsepower - pretty good for its time! It also had some fancy suspension work to make it handle better.
What made the Cortina Lotus special was how it combined everyday usefulness with sports car performance. It looked mostly like a regular Cortina, but with some neat touches like a green stripe on white paint. Inside, it had a wood steering wheel and extra gauges to make you feel like a race car driver.
Speaking of racing, the Cortina Lotus was a champion on the track and in rallies. It won lots of races and championships in the 1960s. Today, it's a sought-after classic car that people love for its history and cool factor.
Now, let's talk about the Fiat 128. This little car came out in 1969 and it was a big deal. Why? Because it had a new way of putting the engine in the car. The engine was turned sideways in the front, with the gearbox next to it. This setup is super common now, but the Fiat 128 was one of the first to do it.
This clever design made the Fiat 128 roomy inside even though it was small outside. It had good handling and was fun to drive. The 128 could seat four adults comfortably and had a decent-sized trunk too.
The Fiat 128 won European Car of the Year in 1970. It was popular because it was practical, affordable, and good on gas. Fiat made over 3 million of them!
Both these cars were game-changers in their own ways. The Cortina Lotus showed how a regular car could be turned into a high-performance machine. The Fiat 128 created a blueprint for small cars that's still used today. Cool, right?
