Since ”#TheGreenRoomwithPaulProvenza” series was cancelled by Showtime, more people have watched it on illegal uploads all over the internet than ever watched it on Showtime (and Showtime Anytime). More and more people have asked again and again for me to bring it back somehow, somewhere.

So...
We've been doing all different kinds of backyard shows at my house over the past couple of summers with the help of #BabsRomen (co-producer of The Green Room), #KellyCarlin and #JakeKroger & #TheComedyBureau - everything from standup showcases of up & coming talent, to a comedy game show, to Edinburgh Fringe preview shows, to a night of musical satirists, to a run through of an upcoming James Adomian special.
Then, in June 2023, the opportunity came up to have a collection of guests that I knew would make a great Green Room conversation - a conversation I knew would be challenging for some, cathartic for others, but a fascinating, compelling and valuable one to have either way. Since no streaming platform or network is particularly interested in letting us do the show again, we produced this one ourselves for everyone who would like to see another episode.

#DougStanhope, #AndyAndrist, #KristineLevine, #AnnieLederman and #HenryPhillips all joined me and a crowd of folks at my house to do some standup, and then talk about comedy, swap some road stories, and talk about Andy, Annie & Kristine’s personal experiences of sexual abuse, and the challenges of doing standup material about such a difficult subject. We also talked about Andy's & Doug's trip to confront Andy's childhood abuser face to face, on camera (with #ChrisCastles). That footage is the centerpiece of a documentary I have been working on for, like, forever. (It WILL be finished, and soon. I swear!)

This Green Room episode was live streamed via @NowhereComedy (THANKS, #BenGleib, #RobertSmalley and the whole #NowhereComedy crew!) A whole bunch of cool people donated their time, talents and equipment to record and edit this for you. Some of them were even from our original Green Room family who worked on the Showtime series and were excited to 'get the band back together' and make it happen again.

It was a down & dirty shoot: We shot with 3 Canon consumer cameras - well over a decade old (donated by #EmeryEmery), plus the live stream via 2 iPhones, and some random iPhone footage shot by an audience member.

We hope you enjoy hanging out with this gifted and fearless bunch of comics (PLEASE check out their actual standup, and their respective podcasts, too), and we extend our unending gratitude to everyone who came on board to help make this happen.

A special and long-overdue thanks to #KieranButler (aka Aussie McFuckin' Aussie), who introduced me to the brilliant Australian band TISM, by playing their song for our very first Green Room live shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It was the perfect theme song for the show.
And TISM are cool as shit. They've been awesome to let us use their song as our opening/closing theme ever since. Check out more of them, too.
